More Than 400 High School and College Counselors Attended Regional Event
“Pathways to Paycheck Blueprint to Career Success”
The Central Valley/Mother Lode regional consortium recently hosted a well-attended event just for area high school and college counselors. The annual conference, “Pathways to Paycheck: Blueprint to Career Success” was attended by more than 400 counselors seeking the latest information about the available CTE programs and class offerings in the region.
Peter Davis, ATRE Sector Navigator, spoke with a talented and energetic group of counselors about exciting careers in Advanced Transportation and Renewable Energy, including Hybrids, Biodiesel and Drones.
Counselors Learned that the State’s High-Speed Rail System Will Generate 600,000 Jobs
He also described careers in aviation, and the economic impact created by the aerospace industry in California of more than $61 billion. Counselors learned that the state’s high-speed rail system will generate 600,000 jobs over the life of the project. Davis informed them of the types of jobs available to work in rail and the skill sets needed.
“I have to thank the Central Valley/Mother Lode region for offering me this exciting opportunity to share new ATRE career visions with the regional counselors,” said Davis.
“I really enjoyed the interaction of counselors I met on the floor of the event. Their short inquisitive questions about emerging careers, their thoughtful “what if” questions, and of course their “oh my gosh! I didn’t even know that career existed” statements.
“It was my privilege to share with this small army of talented professionals an old guy’s observation of tomorrow’s careers in transportation and renewable energy in California.
“I look forward to sharing emerging technology stories, new career pathways and fielding their ATRE Career questions at the next Counseling event in the Central Valley.”
