Automotive students at high schools and community colleges across the state recently received more than $100,000 in scholarship support from the California New Car Dealers Association (CNCDA) Scholarship Foundation.

Scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $200 were awarded to 156 automotive students from Cypress College, Santa Ana College, Rio Hondo College, Fresno City College, Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and many others throughout California.

“We’re excited to award students throughout the state with CNCDA Scholarship Foundation funds to enable them to achieve their goals in the automotive industry,” said CNCDA Scholarship Foundation Chairperson, Cheryl Bedford of Sunset Auto Center in Lompoc. “It’s important that industry efforts continue to support up and coming talent and encourage career paths that can better the industry and provide the means for long-term professional growth.”

Many of the recipients are already employed at franchised car dealerships, including dealerships located in northern, central, and southern California.
The CNCDA is the country’s largest state association of franchised new car and truck dealers representing nearly 1,200 dealer members.
Since 1995, the CNCDA has awarded $981,000 in scholarships to more than 1100 students. Students can apply for scholarships in the spring and must meet the following requirements:

  • Intend to pursue a career at a California franchised new car dealership
  • Maintain a part time status of 6 units each school term
  • Maintain GPA of 2.5
  • Eligible for employment in California, under CA and federal law

The 2019 application will be available in the spring and will close around July 1. For more information, visit cncda.org.
