The Clean Energy and Transportation Initiative (CETI) of the California Community Colleges partnered with Stone Edge Farm to conduct a two-day workshop on microgrid applications, technologies, value, and economics.

This pilot offering was designed to demonstrate the value of providing introductory-level information and training on microgrids (and technologies that comprise them) to professionals in decision-making roles with regard to facilities development. SCRTTC Hits $50k Milestone with Transit Scholarship Awards

The Southern California Regional Transit Training Consortium, “SCRTTC,” reached a milestone of providing $50,000 in scholarships to college students. A wonderful way to grow our own in the transit industry.

Each year, the James A Ditch Educational Fund promotes careers in public transit by accepting applications for scholarships from college students enrolled in automotive/transportation courses. The students must also demonstrate a 2.5 cumulative GPA, provide a letter of recommendation from their instructor and show a current transcript. Read More →

The Southland Motor Car Dealers Association (SMCDA) partnered with Cerritos College long before hybrid cars became popular — and that partnership is not showing signs of slowing down anytime soon.

SMCDA was founded in 1932 and represents the majority of new car and truck dealerships in southern Los Angeles County. Its partnership with Cerritos College started in the early 2000s and has grown into a full-fledged curriculum that includes 220 hours of employment. Read More →

De Anza College has relationships with hundreds of dealers and repair shops throughout the Cupertino area.

CEC funding is helping to drive a new program in the area of Clean Natural Gas (CNG) vehicle repair.

Students visit Santa Clara Valley Transit.

Hartnell College is partnering with Santa Clara Valley Transit to train students to work on two new electric buses that are now part of its fleet.

CEC funding is being used to help establish Hartnell as a training and repair facility for the transit system.

Cypress College used its CEC funding to further its existing relationship with Tesla.

About a dozen students from the college’s Automotive Technology program are completing paid internships at Tesla service centers.

CEC funds were used to purchase specialized tool storage units, insulated tools and other test equipment necessary to work on hybrid and electric vehicles. The college has two Tesla cars that it uses to prepare students for those internships. Read More →
