Bakersfield College Creates Innovative Partnerships to Expand Resources

Posted by leephillipsdesign
· May 26, 2021

As anyone who works in the automotive industry knows, not every car that a dealer purchases from an auction ends up for sale in the showroom.

In fact, the reality is that about 20% of vehicles purchased go back to the auction because the maintenance costs are just not worth it.

Bakersfield College’s (BC) Automotive Instructor Andrew Haney realized this phenomenon was an opportunity, not just for his program to receive the new cars they could not afford to purchase otherwise, but also for his students to get the hands-on learning experience they needed. So, Haney created a model in which dealers within the Greater Bakersfield New Car Dealers Association (GBNCDA) could have his students refurbish vehicles purchased at auction, then return them to the dealer to sell. Needs Assessment Identifies Opportunities to Train Middle Skill Transportation and Logistics Workers

Posted by leephillipsdesign
· March 23, 2021

A report published last fall by the Mineta Transportation Institute at San Jose State University examines where the supply chain and logistics sectors fit within the “fourth industrial revolution” and how important digital skills will be in the sectors moving forward.

Conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, the report also highlights how the past year has shown the importance of supply chain and logistics workers to meeting critical needs from food to personal protective equipment to COVID-19 vaccines. The increased awareness presents an opportunity for colleges and universities to ramp up workforce development and ask for funding to do so. Read More →

Initial Drone Registrations About to Expire

Posted by leephillipsdesign
· November 18, 2020

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is reminding everyone whose drone registrations expire in December that the DroneZone is the FAA’s official website for registration.

If you completed your drone registration directly with the FAA before the DroneZone was established in January 2018, a DroneZone account was created for you using the information you provided. Access your account by entering the same email address you used when you first registered, and by using the “forgot password” tool to establish a new password.

If you registered using a third-party service, contact that company to request your DroneZone login credentials. Otherwise, you will have to create a new account in the DroneZone and get a new registration.

Registration on the DroneZone is fast and easy and the fee is only $5 for a three-year period. All drones must be registered, except those that weigh .55 pounds or less (less than 250 grams) and are flown exclusively under the Exception for Recreational Flyers (PDF). Please do your part to keep the skies safe and renew your registration today.
