Faculty Taught How to Use Resources at Professional Development Workshops
Members of the Energy Storage industry met on August 31st to review and validate a set of Energy Storage Curriculum Resources developed by the ATRE team. Ten representatives from companies such as GE Energy Storage and Johnson Controls participated in the 5-hour workshop held at Chabot College near Oakland, CA.
The resources are meant to provide community college faculty with presentation slides, reading materials, lesson plans, and activities needed to introduce the subject to their students in electrical, solar, construction, and architecture courses.
The California Energy Storage Alliance based in Berkeley, assisted in identifying participants for the review panel. The panel discussed the content of each module and made recommendations for additions and modifications.
The Second Phase of Program Development is Underway in the North and South.
Faculty members teaching occupational courses that will soon be affected by emerging storage technologies are now being invited to two professional development workshops.
These workshops will roll out the curriculum resources and teach faculty how to use them. The first was held on October 28 at Skyline College to serve faculty in the San Francisco Bay area. The second workshop is scheduled for Friday, November 18 at Cerritos College to serve faculty in the Los Angeles, Orange, and Inland Empire area.
