Love of Clean Energy Brings Larry McLaughlin Back to ATRE

McLaughlin returns to the Inland Empire/Desert Region as Deputy Sector Navigator

After a six-month stint as Deputy Sector Navigator (DSN) for Advanced LarryManufacturing at College of the Canyons, Larry McLaughlin returned this fall to his role serving the Inland Empire/Desert region as DSN for Advanced Transportation and Renewable Energy (ATRE). This DSN position is based at College of the Desert (COD) where McLaughlin has served for almost seven years – first as a Director of the Advanced Transportation Technology & Energy Center at COD, then as DSN under the Doing What Matters initiative.

“I learned a lot about manufacturing and the trends that are shaping the sector’s future, but my first love is energy,” says McLaughlin. “There is a clear need to support the adoption of clean energy technologies in our state and country, and the education of future technicians, designers, innovators, and leaders in this field plays a critical role.”

McLaughlin is also thrilled to be back in a great Career Technical Education (CTE) region. The Inland Empire/Desert Region is developing a reputation for its collaborative spirit and innovative approach to joint projects. According to McLaughlin, “The regional consortium is like a family, a family that supports innovation and hard work, but also works together to make the efforts of all its members a little easier.” Larry McLaughlin resumed his role as DSN, Advanced Transportation and Renewable Energy in mid-September.
