SCRTTC Hits $50k Milestone with Transit Scholarship Awards

Posted by leephillipsdesign

The Southern California Regional Transit Training Consortium, “SCRTTC,” reached a milestone of providing $50,000 in scholarships to college students. A wonderful way to grow our own in the transit industry.

Each year, the James A Ditch Educational Fund promotes careers in public transit by accepting applications for scholarships from college students enrolled in automotive/transportation courses. The students must also demonstrate a 2.5 cumulative GPA, provide a letter of recommendation from their instructor and show a current transcript.
This year we received 34 applications from colleges and universities in California. The top 10 students received a scholarship. Congratulations to all the winners, including first place Christina Schneider from College of the Desert in Palm Desert, CA.
As a 501c(3) California Non-Profit operating since 2014, the SCRTTC’s “Learning Model” is a collaboration between community colleges, universities and transit agencies in California to develop and deliver technical and leadership training courses for transit employees. In addition, the SCRTTC has been a recipient of several awards for innovation in transit training from the National Transit Institute and California Transit Association.
To date the SCRTTC has delivered over 71,492 hours of transit specific training to over 5,001 participants.
