Logistics Programs

Logistics is the Pipeline that Plans and Coordinates the Delivery of Products and Services to Consumers All Over the World.

Logistics professionals manage and coordinate activities involving the efficient, effective flow and storage of goods and services from the point of origin to the point of consumption.

Some of the many activities involved in logistics include:

  • Logistics planning and analysis
  • Transportation management
  • Warehouse operations management
  • Purchasing and materials management

Community college programs prepare students for entry into or career growth within the logistics industry. Principles of logistics include an introduction to the management of business logistics functions with a focus on integration of functions (transportation, warehousing, purchasing, etc.) to improve overall supply chain performance.

Courses also include a study of the freight transportation system, including pricing, regulation, and traffic management and its role within integrated business supply chains.

Employment in this industry is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026 and will be driven by the need for logistics in the transportation of goods in a global economy.
